Please join us as Mertech unveils its latest product, Flex2Crystal: the future of Crystal reports for Visual DataFlex users. Flex2Crystal will allow VDF developers to continue using Crystal reports with minimal changes to their source and zero change to their existing reports!

Crystal Reports is an important part of Visual DataFlex applications and developers have relied on Crystal Reports to deliver complex reports with their applications. However, DataFlex users could not use Crystal Reports 2008 and later because SAP switched from using COM to .NET interfaces for Crystal development. DataFlex currently does not support consuming .NET assemblies in VDF. Due to this limitation, Visual DataFlex developers have not been able to upgrade to newer versions of Crystal Reports since Crystal X1, which came out in 2005! The VDF community has been demanding for a way forward with Crystal, not wanting to discard their investment in existing reports.

Mertech took on this challenge and the result is Flex2Crystal.

In this Community Technology, Mertech will show complex reports running with Crystal 2011 in a VDF application. We will discuss the implications for developers in switching to Flex2Crystal, what features are supported what are not, and how developers can take advantage of the new features in Crystal Reports.

Riaz Merchant and Oliver Nelson, the technical lead on this project at Mertech, will present the webinar. Oliver is well known in the DataFlex community for his expertise in DataFlex.
