Mertech is pleased to announce the availability of the first beta release of Flex2Crystal. Flex2Crystal allows DataFlex users to run their Crystal reports with newer versions of .NET-based Crystal Reports.

Feature Summary

• Makes it possible for VDF applications to work with Studio
  Allows newer versions of Crystal Reports to be adopted without changing source code. A few simple search and replace operations in report view (.rv) files are all that is required to run existing reports with newer versions of Crystal Reports.

• Maintains support for legacy sort methods
• Ensures support for new features as they are added to Crystal Reports (for example, read-only reports, parameters, and on-report sort controls)
• Alerts you if your program accesses a custom viewer property that is no longer supported by Crystal Reports.
• Can select a suitable replacement if a deprecated export file format is chosen.
• Does not compromise on report launching or data fetching performance
  Supports VDF version 12 (the first version to use RDC) through the latest versions
• Is easy to install and distribute

What's New since the CTP?

• The Crystal Data Object (CDO) is an ActiveX data source that allows for on-the-fly generated data sets to be used inside a report. The CDO interface, with full support for tab-separated text (TTX) files, is available in the Beta 1 version of Flex2Crystal.
• Support for more classes added.
• New methods added to various classes with a focus on the ActiveX Viewer
  VDF Studio support for the Flex2Crystal ActiveX viewer.
• Advanced printing features (for example, adding Watermarks), which are set using the DEVMODE data structure, now available when printing from the VDF print dialog box.
